BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry continues to demonstrate its growing technological capabilities through the successful integration of advanced platforms and precision-guided munitions. The Bayraktar AKINCI Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), developed by Baykar, has completed new firing tests using the latest members of the TOLUN munition family designed by ASELSAN. During the tests, both the Proximity Sensor Fragmentation Effect TOLUN-F and the Hardened Target Fuze Bunker-Buster TOLUN achieved direct hits in a single sortie.
Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar shared footage of the test on social media, highlighting AKINCI’s expanding strike capability with next-generation indigenous munitions. The successful engagement confirmed the UCAV’s ability to employ different munition types effectively across diverse operational scenarios, further enhancing its mission flexibility.
ASELSAN President and CEO Ahmet Akyol emphasized the strong synergy between Baykar’s aerial platforms and ASELSAN’s precision weapons. He noted that the proximity sensor-equipped TOLUN-F provides high lethality against multiple targets over wide areas, while the hardened target fuze bunker-buster TOLUN is designed to neutralize fortified and underground structures with high penetration capability.
President of the Presidency of Defence Industries Haluk Görgün also commented on the tests, stating that the newly demonstrated capabilities clearly show how effectively national munitions operate when integrated with domestically developed air platforms. He underlined that these achievements represent another step forward in strengthening Türkiye’s air power through fully indigenous solutions, congratulating both ASELSAN and Baykar teams for their efforts.
Previously, the ASELSAN TOLUN munition drew attention by achieving a record range of over 100 kilometers during a long-range test firing from an F-16 fighter jet, striking its target with high precision. Designed as a versatile munition family, TOLUN aims to increase the number of targets engaged per aircraft and enable the accurate destruction of strategic and hardened targets in modern air operations. The family continues to evolve to meet the diverse requirements of contemporary battlefields.
