The NATO Summit Defense Industry Forum reception, held at the TUSAŞ Kahramankazan facility, was addressed by Defense Industry Agency President Haluk Görgün, who emphasized that this event within the framework of the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit represents one of the largest forums in NATO history. Görgün noted that the world is undergoing significant transformation and that NATO cannot remain indifferent to these developments. He highlighted that this initiative, which has grown step by step through the Vilnius, Washington, and Hague summits, has now reached its peak. Görgün stated that when NATO history is written in the future, the Ankara Summit will receive special attention, and the Defense Industry Forum will symbolize the beginning of a new era for NATO.
TUSAŞ has served Turkey and its allies for over 50 years in a wide range of areas, from aircraft structures to modernization, from attack helicopters to jet trainer aircraft and satellite technology. Baykar Technology operates as a game-changing unmanned aerial vehicle company that plays a critical role in transatlantic security. The company's KIZILELMA platform was showcased at the forum and received significant acclaim. Görgün emphasized that the forum displayed not only aircraft but also cutting-edge systems from the Turkish defense industry, and stressed the importance of establishing a secure and resilient supply chain among allies.
The reception, which showcased Turkish defense industry's land, sea, and air capabilities, brought together leading representatives from the sector. Among air assets, the next-generation jet trainer aircraft HÜRJET, the next-generation basic trainer aircraft HÜRKUŞ-II, the ANKA III unmanned combat aircraft, GÖKBEY and ATAK helicopters, Bayraktar AKINCI, Bayraktar TB3, ANKA, and AKSUNGUR UAVs conducted flight demonstrations. Additionally, ANKA III performed formation flights with HÜRJET and HÜRKUŞ, demonstrating the sophistication of Turkish aviation technology. These demonstrations showcased to NATO allies the diversity and capability of Turkey's defense industry capacity.
NATO's increasing emphasis on defense industry cooperation reflects an evolution spanning from the Vilnius Strategic Concept through the Washington and Hague summits. The Ankara Summit Defense Industry Forum represents the most significant turning point in this evolution. By hosting this forum, Turkey demonstrated the strength of its defense industry ecosystem that contributes to European and Atlantic security. The cooperation agreements and supply chain security discussions held at the forum aim to strengthen NATO's collective defense capacity.
The Turkish defense industry, through an ecosystem created by ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, Baykar, and other companies, delivers products and services to NATO standards. These platforms, with high localization rates, play an important role in establishing secure supply chains among allies. The systems showcased at the forum address NATO's critical needs in air defense, unmanned aerial vehicles, and trainer platforms. This cooperation strengthens Turkey's defense industry vision within NATO integration.
