BREAKING NEWS
One of the leading actors of Türkiye’s defense industry in the naval domain, STM Defence Technologies Engineering Inc., continues to stand out as a key contributor to the “Blue Homeland” doctrine through its 35 years of engineering expertise. Playing critical roles in projects led by the Presidency of Defence Industries, STM has reinforced Türkiye’s maritime vision on a global scale by successfully managing 44 naval platforms across 11 different shipyards, both domestically and internationally.
With a highly qualified workforce of nearly 300 engineers, STM manages the entire lifecycle of naval platforms—including corvettes, frigates, logistic support ships, fast attack craft, and submarines—from design to construction and delivery. Thanks to projects developed with national resources, localization rates in military shipbuilding have reached peak levels, while dependency on foreign systems has been significantly reduced, strengthening Türkiye’s defense ecosystem.
STM’s naval engineering journey began with the MILGEM program, Türkiye’s national warship initiative. The expertise gained through this project has positioned STM as a trusted solution partner for global navies, including those of Portugal, Ukraine, Malaysia, and Pakistan. STM’s ability to operate directly in customer shipyards maximizes local participation and places the company at the forefront of technology transfer.
In surface combatants, STM’s portfolio includes ADA-class corvettes, national frigate projects, and logistic support vessels. In submarine technologies, STM serves as Türkiye’s engineering backbone through the Reis-class submarine program and modernization of Ay, Preveze, and Gür-class submarines. This accumulated experience has culminated in STM500, Türkiye’s first indigenous special operations and attack submarine. Additionally, projects such as the NETA Autonomous Underwater Vehicle demonstrate STM’s ambition in unmanned and next-generation naval warfare systems.
As emphasized by STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz, STM today stands as a globally reliable military maritime company, supporting not only the Turkish Naval Forces but also allied and friendly nations. With dozens of simultaneous surface and underwater projects, STM continues to export its national engineering expertise while enhancing Türkiye’s deterrence and international prestige in naval defense.
