MKE's TOLGA Close-Range Air Defense System was integrated into the 6×6 unmanned ground vehicle KATICA platform operated by Hungarian defense technology firm HT Division under a strategic memorandum of understanding. In the initial phase of the cooperation, the 20 mm gun system embedded in the TOLGA platform was successfully adapted to the Hungarian unmanned ground vehicle. The new platform was unveiled at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, presenting Turkish defense technology to leading representatives of Europe's defense ecosystem.

The TOLGA Close-Range Air Defense System was designed as a critical component of a layered air defense architecture. The system comprises a 20 mm automatic gun, 12.7 mm gun turret, ENFAL-17 guided missile, laser weapon system, acoustic detection system, and electronic countermeasure (jammer) elements. Integration of TOLGA onto unmanned ground platforms enables this capability package to be combined with mobility and autonomous operation capabilities. Consequently, a broad range of operational scenarios becomes feasible, from protecting critical infrastructure to border security, from air defense of mobile units to protection of unmanned system operations.

Turkish defense industry has made significant progress in developing layered air defense systems over the past decade. Systems developed by ROKETSAN, including SİPER and HİSAR, address medium and long-range air defense requirements, while MKE's TOLGA plays a critical role in short-range protection. Integration of these systems contributes to the establishment of a NATO-compliant, multi-layered air defense architecture. Additionally, TOLGA's adaptability to unmanned platforms demonstrates the flexibility and adaptation capability of the Turkish defense industry ecosystem.

In the global defense market, integration of air defense systems onto unmanned platforms is becoming increasingly widespread. NATO countries are investing in mobile and autonomous air defense solutions, accelerating technology development efforts in this domain. The integration program conducted by MKE TOLGA with Hungary's HT Division represents evidence of Turkish defense technology gaining acceptance in the European market and increasing export potential. Agreements signed in early 2026 with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt regarding joint production and export of TOLGA demonstrate that this system enjoys global demand. The European integration initiated with Hungary proves that TOLGA is an applicable solution across different geographies and operational scenarios.
