BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense has shared a remarkable event that brought together the Turkish Armed Forces’ air power and space-based observation capabilities. Four T-38M training aircraft from the Turkish Air Force carried out a ceremonial flypast over the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial, creating a meaningful tribute that also highlighted the country’s advanced military assets. This special moment was recorded by GÖKTÜRK-1, Türkiye’s high-resolution Earth observation satellite, turning the salute into a striking visual symbol of both remembrance and technological strength.
According to the ministry’s statement, the four T-38M aircraft belong to the 121st Jet Training Squadron Command based in Çiğli, İzmir. During a scheduled training flight, the aircraft followed a route that took them directly over the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial, where they performed the salute. The flypast stood out not merely as a routine aviation activity, but as a strong gesture of respect for the memory of the fallen heroes of Çanakkale and the enduring spirit of national sacrifice. The participation of Turkish Air Force training elements in such a symbolic mission also reflected the connection between military tradition and national remembrance.
One of the most notable aspects of the event was that the flypast was recorded from space by GÖKTÜRK-1. The Ministry of National Defense stated that the imaging process was meticulously planned by personnel from the Reconnaissance Satellite Battalion Command. This coordination demonstrated not only Türkiye’s growing capabilities in aerial operations, but also its competence in satellite-based reconnaissance and observation. The successful capture of such a symbolic moment from orbit once again underlined the operational harmony and technological sophistication achieved in the country’s defense ecosystem.
In its social media post regarding the event, the ministry also included the lines, “O martyr, son of a martyr, do not ask me for a grave; the Prophet stands with open arms waiting for you.” This message added a powerful emotional and spiritual dimension to the occasion. Combined with the images shared, the tribute drew public attention both for its emotional resonance and for the technological achievement it represented. The salute of the T-38M aircraft over Çanakkale, together with GÖKTÜRK-1’s view from space, once again showed that Türkiye’s defense capabilities are shaped not only by technical power, but also by history, loyalty, and national consciousness.
