BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s leading defense industry companies, ROKETSAN, has taken a notable step by naming a new-generation indigenous and precision-guided missile system “Eren Bülbül.” The decision commemorates Eren Bülbül, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in the Maçka district of Trabzon in 2017, and aims to keep national memory alive through advanced defense technologies.
According to sources close to the company, the naming is not merely symbolic. It reflects the “national technology – national memory” approach that ROKETSAN has adopted in recent years. Company officials emphasize that defense industry projects are not only designed to enhance military capabilities, but also to strengthen social awareness and collective remembrance. With this decision, the name of Eren Bülbül will be associated with a high-technology system representing Türkiye’s deterrent power.
From a technical perspective, the missile bearing the name Eren Bülbül is designed for multi-role and high-precision strike missions. Defense sources state that the system features INS/GPS-supported guidance, with optional laser or electro-optical seeker head configurations. Depending on the platform, the missile offers a range extending from approximately 30 kilometers to over 100 kilometers, providing flexibility across various operational scenarios. Armor-piercing and fragmentation warhead options further expand its mission profile.
Powered by a solid-fuel rocket motor, the missile is capable of reaching high speeds and engaging targets in a short time. It is designed to be integrated with UAVs, UCAVs, and fighter aircraft, offering a low circular error probable (CEP) and high accuracy. Data-link capability allows in-flight target updates, while all-weather and night operation features significantly enhance battlefield effectiveness. These capabilities are expected to contribute substantially to the operational strength of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Defense industry analysts note that such projects go beyond increasing military capacity; they also reinforce national solidarity by honoring the memory of martyrs. ROKETSAN’s initiative is widely regarded as a strong example of combining cutting-edge technology with social and moral values, highlighting the broader vision behind Türkiye’s indigenous defense industry efforts.
