The initial delivery of the new-generation HIZIR 4×4 armored vehicles developed by Katmerciler has been successfully completed under the Ministry of National Defence procurement program. Designed in full compliance with NATO standards, the vehicle features a unique 3-door hull design and a 5-personnel transport capacity to address the demanding operational requirements of modern warfare. The vehicles have been integrated into Turkish Armed Forces inventory and are now operational.
Katmerciler holds a significant position in Turkey's defense industry ecosystem in the field of tactical wheeled armored vehicles. The company specializes in the design and production of vehicles requiring high ballistic protection and maneuverability. The HIZIR platform demonstrates Katmerciler's engineering capacity and domestic technology integration, contributing to the defense sector's localization objectives. The company's achievement represents an important step in Turkey's ground forces modernization efforts.
The new-generation HIZIR is equipped with a 400-horsepower engine, 70-percent grade climbing capability, and a fully automatic transmission. The vehicle is designed with high mine and ballistic protection levels, superior maneuverability, and user-friendly driving characteristics. The ASELSAN-manufactured SARP Remote-Controlled Stabilized Weapon System (RCWS) turret provides the vehicle with maximum firepower and enhanced survivability. The integrated system architecture ensures coordinated operation of all onboard systems, enhancing operational effectiveness.
The HIZIR platform represents a significant advancement in Turkish defense industry history within the tactical wheeled armored vehicle category. Increased domestic design and production capacity raises the defense sector's localization rate, reducing external dependency. The integration of domestically-produced subsystems such as the ASELSAN weapon system reflects an approach aligned with national technology development objectives. Such platforms play a critical role in modernizing Turkey's ground forces and strengthening operational capabilities.
In the international market, comparable 4×4 tactical armored vehicles (such as Fuchs, Fuchs Survivor, and Oshkosh M-ATV systems) are widely used by NATO nations. The HIZIR has been developed in compliance with these global standards while being customized for Turkey's specific requirements. Katmerciler Executive Board Vice Chairman Furkan Katmerci stated that remaining deliveries under the project will be completed by year-end and that significant demand exists from friendly and allied nations. Export interest from partner countries demonstrates that the HIZIR platform is a competitive product in the global market.
