HAVELSAN Deputy General Manager for International Business Development and Marketing Şevket Ünal provided insights into the company's solutions and cooperation opportunities in the Azerbaijani market. Ünal emphasized that HAVELSAN, operating since 1982, has developed simulation projects and command and control systems for air, land, and naval forces, while also pursuing civil sector initiatives.
HAVELSAN has been a cornerstone of the Turkish defense industrial ecosystem since its establishment in 1982, spanning four decades of technological advancement. The company has developed integrated solutions for command and control systems serving air, land, and naval platforms, extending its expertise to international markets. Ünal noted that HAVELSAN maintains long-standing offices in Azerbaijan and continues its operations in the country without interruption. The simulation technology expertise HAVELSAN has cultivated in Turkey is being transferred to support Azerbaijan's defense sector development.
Command and control systems and simulation technologies form the backbone of modern defense infrastructure. These systems play a critical role in force training, exercises, and operational management, while war gaming capabilities support strategic decision-making processes. HAVELSAN's solutions provide integrated platforms that enable coordination across air, land, and naval forces. Azerbaijan's defense sector is increasing demand for such technologies, and HAVELSAN's offerings are positioned to address these requirements effectively.
Over the past seven years, HAVELSAN has prioritized autonomous systems development. Unmanned ground vehicles (UGV), tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and unmanned surface vehicles (USV) occupy central positions in contemporary defense strategies. HAVELSAN's work in these domains demonstrates the Turkish defense industrial base's capacity for autonomous systems localization and technology development. Ünal stated that discussions regarding HAVELSAN system production in Azerbaijan are ongoing, with active engagement continuing on this front.
Turkish defense industry delivers command and control and simulation solutions compliant with NATO standards, providing competitive advantage in international markets. Azerbaijan's defense sector seeks to leverage Turkey's technological experience through cooperation initiatives. HAVELSAN's war gaming capabilities are also under evaluation by Azerbaijani partners, with the company's proven products and solutions generating regional interest. Such collaboration can strengthen both nations' defense industrial capabilities.
