BREAKING NEWS
Haluk Görgün, head of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), drew attention to the K2 Kamikaze UAV developed by Baykar and emphasized the level reached by the country’s defense engineering capabilities. In his social media post, Görgün stated that systems developed through domestic and national resources are opening the door to a new era in defense technologies, not only with their technical features but also with their direct operational impact in the field. He described the K2 Kamikaze UAV as one of the most striking examples of this transformation.
According to the details shared by Görgün, the K2 Kamikaze UAV has been designed to meet the demands of modern warfare, particularly with its image-based navigation and targeting capabilities. The platform’s AI-supported autonomous swarm ability is among the most important features that distinguish it from similar systems. This capability is expected to enable the UAV to operate more flexibly and effectively in complex mission environments. At the same time, its long-range capability and effective warhead make the K2 not just a tactical asset but also a major strike element on the battlefield.
Another major point highlighted in the statement was the system’s cost-effectiveness. Görgün noted that the K2 Kamikaze UAV offers higher cost efficiency compared with its counterparts, while its ability to operate under jamming conditions provides a critical battlefield advantage. In modern conflict environments where electronic warfare threats are increasingly intense, such resilience is considered a strategic asset that can directly affect mission success. In addition, the UAV’s architecture is suitable for rapid mass production, meaning it can be delivered to operational units in a relatively short period when needed.
Technical details about the platform further underlined the K2’s notable capabilities. Görgün stated that the UAV can take off from short and unprepared runways. This feature significantly increases operational flexibility and enables mission execution in diverse geographies and under harsh field conditions. Its reusable architecture also offers an important advantage not only in tactical effectiveness but also in terms of sustainable operational planning.
Haluk Görgün said the K2 Kamikaze UAV once again demonstrates the engineering strength and technological depth of the Turkish defense industry in the era of intelligent systems. He also congratulated Baykar’s engineers and technical personnel who contributed to the project and thanked everyone involved. The statement is seen as another indication of Türkiye’s growing strength in the unmanned aerial systems domain. With its autonomous capabilities, resistance to electronic warfare, long range and effective strike power, the K2 Kamikaze UAV is expected to become one of the prominent platforms of the Turkish defense industry in the coming period.
