An important evaluation meeting on the National Combat Aircraft KAAN project was held at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) headquarters. The meeting brought together President of Defense Industry Agency (SSB) Haluk Görgün, Turkish Air Force Commander Gen. Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, senior officials from domestic defense firms, and technical experts from both TAI and SSB. The session focused on assessing the project’s timeline, integration progress, and testing milestones.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the coordination of key development phases, the maturity level of subsystems, and the sustainability of the supply chain. Special attention was given to the integration of avionics, mission computers, communication systems, and electronic warfare capabilities. Technical teams presented reports on lessons learned from ground and system tests and how these insights are being applied to optimize KAAN’s performance and reliability.
Following the meeting, the Defense Industry Agency released a statement expressing gratitude to all contributors: “We thank all stakeholders who have contributed to the development of our fifth-generation fighter aircraft KAAN.” The statement highlighted the strong collaborative ecosystem driving the project forward and reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining inter-institutional coordination throughout the development process.
The evaluation, hosted by TAI, underscored the strategic importance of KAAN as the future backbone of Türkiye’s air power. It also reinforced the emphasis on data-driven decision-making, technical validation, and synchronized project management to ensure the success of the country’s most ambitious aerospace program to date.
