BREAKING NEWS
A significant development in defense industry cooperation has emerged through the partnership between EDGE and Baykar. Under their previously signed Strategic Alliance Agreement, the two companies have successfully integrated EDGE’s DESERT STING 16 precision-guided munition onto Baykar’s Bayraktar TB2 UAV. This marks the first of several planned payload integrations, scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
EDGE Chairman H.E. Faisal Al Bannal described the collaboration as a strategic milestone that enhances the strengths of both companies. Baykar Chairman and CTO Selçuk Bayraktar highlighted that the integration not only expands the TB2’s payload options but also allows EDGE to offer a wider range of solutions to its global customer base.
The Bayraktar TB2, recognized as a medium-altitude, long-endurance tactical UAV, is capable of fully autonomous taxiing, takeoff, landing, and cruising. Already proven in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and strike missions, the TB2 gains even greater flexibility with the addition of DESERT STING 16 munitions. This upgrade enables the UAV to carry out a broader set of missions in modern combat environments with enhanced precision and effectiveness.
The partnership between EDGE and Baykar extends beyond this integration, aiming to develop further high-tech defense solutions through mutually beneficial programs and long-term projects. Analysts see this cooperation as a significant step that boosts the global competitiveness of both Türkiye’s and the UAE’s defense industries.
