Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), made important statements ahead of the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), which will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center between July 22–27. The event is organized by KFA Fuarcılık A.Ş., under the management of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TAFF), hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, and supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries.
Görgün emphasized that preparations for IDEF 2025 had been ongoing for 1.5 years, involving nearly 1,000 dedicated personnel. He thanked TAFF General Manager Bilal Topçu and his team for their meticulous work. Stating that everything is ready for the opening, Görgün noted that the ceremony will take place at Atatürk Airport, featuring parades of land vehicles and air platforms, while 14 naval systems will be showcased simultaneously at Ataköy Marina.
Highlighting that IDEF has evolved into one of the world’s leading defense exhibitions, Görgün said: “IDEF is now a recognized brand among international defense fairs, ranking among the top five globally. This year, 44 countries are participating professionally, with more than 400 international companies exhibiting their products.” He added that the event will welcome ministers from 33 countries, along with over 120 deputy ministers, chiefs of general staff, and force commanders.
Görgün underlined that IDEF serves as a vital platform for global defense cooperation rather than merely a product showcase. To support business networking, the MEET@IDEF digital platform has been introduced, enabling thousands of meetings between participants. He also mentioned that the exhibition period has been extended by two days, with the final weekend open to the general public. Additionally, the fair will include panels and the Network Summit, providing opportunities for professionals to connect in a social setting.
Concluding his remarks, Görgün stated: “IDEF 2025 will demonstrate Türkiye’s technological achievements in the defense sector and strengthen its global partnerships. We are fully prepared for a dynamic and successful exhibition.”
