BREAKING NEWS
Turkish defense industry player SYS Group is preparing to showcase its newest products at SAHA 2026, one of the country’s major defense, aerospace, and space exhibitions. Among the most notable launches will be the CANiK M3 FALCON, a next-generation 12.7x99 mm heavy machine gun developed specifically for the harsh operational requirements of aerial platforms. The system is expected to make its first public appearance during the exhibition, which will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center from May 5 to 9, 2026.
The CANiK M3 FALCON has been designed with an open-bolt operating system, a feature intended to reduce overheating and improve performance during sustained firing. This design approach is especially important for airborne platforms, where weapon endurance, reliability, and continuous operational readiness are critical. Combined with a high rate of fire and a structure built to adapt to the dynamic conditions of the modern battlefield, the weapon is positioned as a specialized solution for current and future air missions.
With the M3 FALCON, SYS Group is expanding its existing family of heavy machine guns. CANiK already produces several 12.7x99 mm NATO heavy machine gun variants, including the M2 QCB, M2F, and M3. The addition of the M3 FALCON, optimized for air platforms with its open-bolt mechanism, further strengthens the company’s portfolio in this segment. This also reflects Türkiye’s growing capability to design and manufacture specialized weapons not just for land systems, but for aerial applications as well.
Another system expected to draw attention at SAHA 2026 is SYS Group’s Distributed Mobile Layered Air Defense Architecture, launched earlier this year by UNIROBOTICS. This concept combines the TRAKON remote-controlled weapon station, the CANiK heavy machine gun family, and the VENOM LR medium-caliber cannon into one integrated structure. Designed particularly against modern drone and counter-UAS threats, the system is presented as a cost-effective and sustainable solution for layered defense.
SYS Group CEO Cahit Utku Aral described SAHA 2026 not merely as an exhibition, but as a strategic ecosystem where concrete projects, partnerships, and international business opportunities take shape. According to Aral, the debut of the CANiK M3 FALCON and the group’s new layered defense concept will further reinforce Türkiye’s engineering strength in global markets. His remarks show that SYS Group sees SAHA 2026 not only as a product launch platform, but also as an opportunity to deepen exports and build new strategic partnerships.
Overall, the first public presentation of the CANiK M3 FALCON at SAHA 2026 highlights the Turkish defense industry’s ability to develop tailored solutions for aerial platforms in the heavy machine gun segment. If the system attracts the expected international interest, it may become an important addition not only for Turkish platforms, but also for export markets seeking reliable and specialized airborne weapon systems.
