BREAKING NEWS
Baykar established itself as the world's leading armed UAV exporter in 2025 with $2.2 billion in export revenue. The company's total 2025 revenue reached $2.5 billion, with 88 percent derived from exports. Data presented at the 5th Global Strategies Conference in Defense and Aerospace Industry, organized by the Defense Industry Agency, confirmed that Baykar ranks second among Turkish defense industry export champions overall, while maintaining a commanding lead in the armed UAV product category.
Baykar has built its corporate structure entirely on self-funded resources since launching its unmanned aerial vehicle research and development program in 2003. Since its inception, the company has generated 83 percent of total revenue from exports, an unprecedented achievement in the sector. In 2023, Baykar achieved $1.8 billion in exports and ranked among Turkey's top 10 exporters across all sectors, earning the Export Champions Award. During 2024, the company continued its global success by generating 90 percent of revenue from exports, reaching $1.8 billion in export volume.
Baykar's position in unmanned aerial vehicle technology plays a strategic role within the global defense industry ecosystem. The Bayraktar TB2 armed UAV has secured export agreements with 36 countries, while the Bayraktar AKINCI tactical UAV has established agreements with 16 nations. With export agreements spanning 37 countries total, Baykar has become the engine of Turkey's high-technology exports. This achievement demonstrates how valuable domestically developed technology capacity proves in international markets.
Baykar served as the defense and aerospace sector's export leader according to Defense Industry Agency and Turkish Exporters Assembly data for 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, steadily increasing its sectoral weight each year. In 2023, the company independently generated one-third of total sector exports; by 2024, this proportion increased to one-quarter. This performance demonstrates that Baykar has positioned Turkey as a leader in the global armed UAV export market and validates the success of the nation's defense technology vision.
Baykar's position in the global unmanned aerial vehicle market demonstrates Turkey's technological competence in an international competitive environment. When compared with other companies developing armed UAVs globally, Baykar's cost-performance balance and operational reliability represent the primary factors determining customer nation preferences. Developed through nationally designed and manufactured processes, these platforms deliver NATO-standard quality while strengthening Turkey's defense industry ecosystem in localization and research and development capacity.
