BREAKING NEWS
Organized by The Peak Defense under the patronage of Mali's Presidency and Ministry of Defense, the BAMEX 2026 exhibition at the Bamako Fair and Exhibition Center (FEBAK) will serve as a significant gathering point for African defense technology. More than 20 Turkish defense companies, including Baykar, ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, Skydagger, and Prontaron Defense, will participate alongside representatives from China, Germany, Sudan, and other nations. Delegations from the Ministry of National Defense and the Presidency's Defense Industry Agency will also take part in the official program.
Turkish defense industry companies' participation in BAMEX last year established a foundation for this year's more comprehensive and strategic engagement. During the exhibition's Demo Day program, participating companies will demonstrate their products and systems in field conditions. Military and official delegations will have the opportunity to examine technologies at company booths and directly observe their real-world performance in the field. This approach accelerates decision-making processes for purchasing nations while enabling Turkish manufacturers to demonstrate product reliability and operational capability directly.
The Sahel region's security environment has created acute demands in counterterrorism, border control, reconnaissance-surveillance, and communications. Regional nations seek solutions in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), counter-measure systems, electro-optical sensors, tactical communications networks, armored ground vehicles, weapons-ammunition systems, and personal protective equipment. BAMEX 2026 functions as a platform connecting these requirements with international defense technology offerings, presenting Turkish companies with significant partnership and sales opportunities in the African market.
Leading Turkish defense industry organizations such as ASELSAN and ROKETSAN possess the capability to provide solutions tailored to Sahel nations' operational requirements through their expertise in electronic warfare, radar, and missile systems; Baykar brings its pioneering position in unmanned aerial vehicle technology. Turkey's recent provision of defense support and technology transfer to Libya, Somalia, and other regional nations has demonstrated the reliability and applicability of Turkish products in the region. This operational experience positions Turkish companies competitively at BAMEX 2026.
In the international defense market, solutions offering favorable price-to-performance ratios for developing nations are increasingly in demand. Turkish defense industry can provide NATO-standard products at more accessible prices compared to Western equivalents. The expected participation of high-level military and official delegations from more than 40 African nations at BAMEX 2026 demonstrates the substantial long-term partnership and export potential for Turkish companies in the region. The exhibition's success will strengthen Turkey's positioning as a significant defense technology player in Africa.
