BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s leading defense company ASELSAN has enhanced the capabilities of its GÖKBERK Mobile Laser Weapon System, developed in cooperation with TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, through the successful integration of the domestically produced AURA 200-G AESA Radar. This major upgrade strengthens GÖKBERK’s operational performance, particularly against the growing threat of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and highly maneuverable FPV drones on the modern battlefield.
GÖKBERK features a guidance unit capable of ±180-degree azimuth rotation and is equipped with advanced electro-optical sensors for precise target tracking. The system includes a TV camera, thermal camera, active tracking camera, and laser illuminator, enabling 24/7 operational capability. Thanks to its stabilized focusing unit and advanced optical components, GÖKBERK delivers highly accurate tracking performance, even against fast-moving and agile targets. This makes it especially effective against low-altitude FPV drones attempting to approach while maneuvering or masking themselves within complex environments.
The system’s advanced cooling architecture, designed for continuous 24/7 operation, ensures sustained firing capability over extended periods. With its high-quality laser beam output, GÖKBERK achieves maximum impact with minimal power consumption. This capability significantly reduces the cost per engagement, offering an economically sustainable solution against asymmetric aerial threats. Its mobile deployment capability further allows it to operate both in field environments and urban areas, making it suitable for protecting critical infrastructure and high-value fixed facilities.
Commenting on the integration, ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol emphasized the concept of “light-speed impact” in modern warfare. He stated that with the AURA 200-G AESA Radar integration, GÖKBERK is now capable of detecting and neutralizing high-speed, maneuvering FPV drones flying at low altitude. Akyol also highlighted that under the ÇELİKKUBBE layered air defense concept, ASELSAN continues to build a multi-layered defense architecture extending from the lowest to the highest altitudes.
