BREAKING NEWS
Turkey’s defense industry continues to translate its indigenous and national capabilities into operational strength. ASFAT has marked another significant milestone by delivering the first batch of HGK-84 Precision Guidance Kits planned for 2026. The delivery was carried out under an existing contract with the Ministry of National Defence and in close cooperation with TÜBİTAK SAGE. The systems have officially been handed over to the Turkish Air Force Command for inclusion in its operational inventory.
The HGK-84 is designed to convert conventional MK-84 general-purpose bombs into highly accurate smart munitions, significantly enhancing precision strike capability. Equipped with advanced inertial navigation and global positioning systems, the HGK-84 provides high hit accuracy under all weather conditions. This capability is particularly critical in modern combat environments, where precision, effectiveness, and the minimization of collateral damage are of paramount importance.
This delivery represents a major step toward strengthening the Turkish Air Force’s precision engagement capabilities while increasing the proportion of domestically produced munitions in its arsenal. It also highlights ASFAT’s growing production and delivery capacity, demonstrating the maturity reached by Turkey’s defense industrial ecosystem through effective cooperation between state institutions and national research organizations.
Officials indicate that the ASFAT–TÜBİTAK SAGE partnership will continue in the coming period with additional deliveries. Furthermore, different variants within the HGK family are expected to be introduced into service, further enhancing the operational flexibility and deterrence capability of the Turkish Air Force. These developments are regarded as strategically important contributions to Turkey’s long-term goal of defense industry self-sufficiency.
