BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s leading defense and technology company ASELSAN has celebrated the 28th anniversary of its operations in Azerbaijan, marking a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations. Having started its activities in Azerbaijan during the country’s early years of independence and the First Karabakh War in the 1990s, ASELSAN has evolved from being a supplier into a long-term strategic partner focused on joint technology development and local capacity building.
ASELSAN established its first international branch in Baku in 1995. Officially registered as a company on February 11, 1998, ASELSAN Baku became one of the first international companies operating in Azerbaijan following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Over the past 28 years, the company has implemented numerous projects spanning defense, security, and advanced civilian technologies.
Today, ASELSAN products are widely used by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, security agencies, and various civilian institutions. The company provides critical solutions in communication systems, electro-optics, radar technologies, command-and-control infrastructures, and electronic warfare systems tailored to the needs of Azerbaijan’s defense establishment. In the civilian domain, ASELSAN has also introduced efficient and environmentally friendly solutions, including high-speed weight-in-motion systems for highways, satellite communication infrastructure, and radio link technologies.
According to ASELSAN Baku General Manager Özgür Kürüm, the number and diversity of projects in Azerbaijan have significantly increased in recent years. The company currently employs 42 personnel in Baku, the vast majority of whom are Azerbaijani nationals, including 20 engineers and technicians actively involved in all operational processes. This structure highlights ASELSAN’s commitment to fostering local expertise and sustainable technological development.
Operating in 13 of its 16 main business domains within Azerbaijan, ASELSAN aims to take its presence to the next level by initiating local production in the country. Upcoming announcements from the company’s headquarters are expected to reveal further details regarding this production initiative, which is anticipated to deepen defense industrial cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
