BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s leading defense industry companies, ASELSAN Konya, has showcased its indigenously developed MAKS40 40 mm Automatic Grenade Launcher on the international stage for the first time. The system was introduced at the World Defense Show 2026 (WDS 2026), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During the exhibition, the infantry-configured version of MAKS40 mounted on a tripod was presented to global defense industry representatives.
Designed with original engineering capabilities, the MAKS40 stands out among its 40 mm caliber counterparts thanks to its lightweight and ergonomic structure. Offering a 22-kilogram weight advantage compared to similar systems, MAKS40 significantly enhances troop mobility while simplifying integration onto various platforms. The system can be configured as a primary or secondary weapon on remote-controlled weapon stations and can also operate independently on a tripod setup, providing tactical flexibility in diverse operational environments.
A key feature of the MAKS40 is its ability to fire smart ammunition, making it particularly effective against emerging threats such as mini and micro unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). As drone threats continue to reshape modern battlefields, the system’s compatibility with advanced programmable munitions offers armed forces a powerful and adaptable response capability. Equipped with high-precision targeting performance, MAKS40 supports both single-shot and automatic firing modes, delivering superior operational effectiveness.
The system also provides right- or left-side ammunition feeding options depending on mission requirements, giving users a significant tactical advantage in the field. ASELSAN Konya General Manager Serhan Özsoy emphasized that showcasing MAKS40 internationally marks a milestone for the company. He highlighted that the strong interest observed at WDS 2026 demonstrates the competitiveness of Konya’s high-technology design and production capabilities in the global defense market.
With its multi-platform integration capability across land, naval, and air platforms, MAKS40 has been designed as a true force multiplier. The system once again underscores Türkiye’s growing strength in developing high value-added, indigenous defense technologies while expanding its export potential worldwide.
