BREAKING NEWS
ASELSAN and the Presidency of Defense Industries have signed a contract valued at 1 billion 470 million 500 thousand 12 euros for continued production of air defense systems and additional project scope. This agreement represents a significant step in strengthening Turkey's multi-layered air defense infrastructure.
ASELSAN holds a leading position in Turkey's defense industry ecosystem, specializing in electronic systems and integrated solutions. Since its establishment, the company has developed extensive capabilities ranging from radar technology and communications systems to command-control platforms and artificial intelligence applications. The ÇELİKKUBBE project stands as the most comprehensive application of this technological expertise. Through collaboration with partner organizations, ASELSAN has developed this system as a cornerstone of Turkey's air defense strategy.
ÇELİKKUBBE is designed to counter air threats at all altitudes and ranges across the airspace. Structured in layered architecture, this platform integrates cost-effective defense against swarm drones and kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles at the lowest altitude using KORKUT-class systems, the HİSAR system at the mid-layer, and the SİPER missile system at the upper layer. Each layer is optimized for specific threat spectrums, creating a comprehensive defensive umbrella.
ÇELİKKUBBE's primary function is to execute the "detect, evaluate, decide, and neutralize" cycle. The system enables integrated operation of all air defense elements and weapons under a network architecture, allowing real-time generation and distribution of the common air picture to operational centers. The HAKİM Air Command and Control System, developed by ASELSAN, manages coordinated operation of all elements within ÇELİKKUBBE. This system provides operators with real-time analysis and recommendations through artificial intelligence-enabled decision support capabilities.
From a global defense industry perspective, multi-layered air defense systems are recognized as critical capabilities under NATO standards. The U.S. PATRIOT system, Europe's IRIS-T, and Israel's David's Sling platforms operate on similar integration principles. ASELSAN's ÇELİKKUBBE project is significant as a nationally developed solution compared to these international examples. The contract's inclusion of additional scope beyond production indicates continued system development and integration of new capabilities.
