BREAKING NEWS
Turkey continues to strengthen its domestic and national defense industry capabilities, as the Bayraktar AKINCI unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) achieved another significant success. National munitions developed by the TÜBİTAK Defense Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE) were launched from the Baykar-produced Bayraktar AKINCI and successfully hit their targets with full accuracy during test firings. The tests once again demonstrated Turkey’s advanced level in UCAV and munition integration.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır shared footage from the test launches conducted by Baykar on his social media accounts. Emphasizing Turkey’s leading position in unmanned aerial vehicles and munition diversity, Minister Kacır stated that Turkey stands out globally in this field. Using the phrase “National munition, national platform,” he underlined that BOZOK and KAYI30 UCAV munitions developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE successfully destroyed their targets with pinpoint accuracy when launched from Bayraktar AKINCI.
These tests clearly revealed AKINCI’s capability to effectively deploy different types of indigenous munitions, while also representing a critical gain in terms of Turkey’s operational independence. The inclusion of domestically developed munitions such as BOZOK and KAYI30 into the inventory significantly enhances the operational effectiveness of the Turkish Armed Forces and reduces foreign dependency in defense systems.
Developing both the aerial platform and its munitions domestically places Turkey among a limited number of countries with such comprehensive capabilities. Moreover, these achievements further strengthen Turkey’s defense export potential. The latest test conducted through the cooperation of Bayraktar AKINCI and TÜBİTAK SAGE once again highlighted Turkey’s determination to advance high-technology defense solutions on a global scale.
