BREAKING NEWS
The Altay main battle tank, one of Türkiye’s most strategic defense projects, is being reinforced with a state-of-the-art hybrid armor system developed by Roketsan. Built with advanced materials and integrated subsystems, this armor provides maximum protection while minimizing weight and volume, ensuring that the tank retains its high mobility in demanding battlefield environments. The design focuses particularly on reducing edge and corner vulnerabilities, significantly enhancing crew safety and safeguarding critical onboard systems.
Roketsan’s efforts mark a vital step toward reducing Türkiye’s dependency on foreign defense technologies. By developing the armor system entirely with domestic resources, Türkiye not only strengthens its operational independence but also creates new opportunities for defense exports. The adaptable nature of this technology allows it to be applied not only to the Altay tank but also to other armored platforms, including unmanned ground vehicles, broadening its scope within the defense sector.
The Altay tank is expected to be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces on April 23, where it will provide a substantial tactical edge in modern combat scenarios. Meanwhile, Roketsan continues preparations for serial production of the armor systems, with a goal of delivering 250 armor sets in the near future. This development is anticipated to raise localization rates in armored vehicle production while enhancing Türkiye’s standing in the global defense industry.
