BREAKING NEWS
According to a statement from Baykar, the company's nationally developed AKINCI Unmanned Aerial Vehicle continues to enhance its operational capabilities through the integration of domestically sourced subsystems and munitions. The platform, which departed from the Çorlu Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ, carried guidance systems developed entirely from indigenous components by ASELSAN, as well as Alpagut munitions jointly developed by ROKETSAN and STM. During the firing test conducted in the Saros Gulf, the designated target was successfully neutralized by the guidance system, and AKINCI returned to base without incident following the successful completion of the test.
The MORFOZ Winged Guidance Kit, developed through ASELSAN's engineering expertise, integrates wing and guidance systems onto conventional munitions to provide precision strike capability. The system's deployable wing structure extends range, while its design enables operation in all weather conditions, resistance to GNSS signal jamming, and selectable impact angles. The integrated ANS/KKS (Pre-Launch Navigation System / Short Lock-on System) architecture enhances target designation and strike accuracy.
Baykar holds a leading position in Turkey's defense sector within the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle domain. During the development of the AKINCI platform, the company has collaborated with ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, STM, and other domestic suppliers, contributing to the national technology supply chain. This approach increases Turkey's localization rate in the defense sector while enabling the country to offer competitive products in international markets.
Within the scope of development and integration activities, various domestically produced munition systems including MAM-L, MAM-T, TOLUN, TEBER, ÇAKIR, SUNGUR, and LAÇİN have been successfully integrated onto the AKINCI UAV. Each munition system offers different range, guidance methods, and warhead options, enhancing the platform's operational flexibility. This diversity provides AKINCI with effective strike capability against numerous target types at both tactical and strategic levels.
In the global defense industry context, the integration of UAV platforms with guided munitions represents a standard approach. The U.S. MQ-9B Reaper system, Israel's Hermes 900 platform, and China's Wing Loong series follow similar munition integration strategies. Equipping AKINCI with a range of domestically produced munitions ensures full platform control while offering an independent solution in the export market. Munition diversity enables customer nations to configure the platform according to their specific operational requirements.
