BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye has achieved another significant milestone in the field of unmanned naval technologies with the successful live-fire test of the MARLIN 100 EW unmanned surface vessel (USV). Developed through the cooperation of ASELSAN and Sefine Shipyard—with contributions from the Ministry of National Defense and the Turkish Naval Forces—MARLIN 100 EW is equipped with advanced electronic warfare (EW) systems, autonomous navigation capabilities and a remotely operated weapon station. The most recent test demonstrated that the platform is fully operational and ready for further integration into naval missions.
President of the Defense Industry Agency (SSB), Haluk Görgün, announced the accomplishment through a social media post, emphasizing that MARLIN 100 EW represents far more than a technological innovation. According to Görgün, the platform symbolizes Türkiye’s growing strength in the “Blue Homeland” and showcases the country’s ability to develop strategic autonomous systems with indigenous capabilities. The SMASH remote weapon system mounted on MARLIN achieved high-precision engagement during the firing trial, confirming the vessel’s effectiveness in real combat scenarios.
Designed to meet the requirements of modern naval warfare, MARLIN 100 EW stands out with its multi-role operational concept. Its electronic warfare suite enables the platform to disrupt and neutralize enemy communications, radar and sensor systems, giving Türkiye a new edge in maritime electronic dominance. Moreover, its autonomous navigation algorithms allow the vessel to conduct missions even in harsh sea conditions, and the system can operate individually or as part of a swarm to enhance force projection.
Görgün highlighted that this achievement reflects the Defense Industry Agency’s 40-year legacy and Türkiye’s commitment to self-reliance in defense technologies as it enters the second century of the Republic. The success of MARLIN 100 EW is the result of coordinated efforts by ASELSAN, Sefine Shipyard and numerous engineers, technicians and defense stakeholders who contributed to the project. The platform is now positioned to become a critical element of Türkiye’s expanded deterrence strategy in the Blue Homeland.
