BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry has reached one of the most significant milestones in its Republican history. With President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attending the ceremony, the country not only introduced new systems into its military inventory but also marked the beginning of a new phase—mass production in the defense sector. ASELSAN inaugurated 14 new facilities, and the foundation of the Oğulbey Technology Base was laid, opening the door to a new era where domestic defense technologies can be produced rapidly and sustainably.
During the ceremony, systems worth approximately $460 million, comprising 47 vehicles, were delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces. Among these were the SİPER long-range air defense system with its 10 support vehicles, three HİSAR-O medium-range air defense systems with 21 vehicles, and additional components of the Steel Dome project including the KORKUT air defense system, PUHU, and REDET electronic warfare systems. These deliveries significantly enhanced Türkiye’s layered air defense architecture.
According to Defense Industry Expert Yusuf Akbaba, this event marked the largest single delivery in Türkiye’s defense history. Akbaba noted that Ankara’s move carried a strategic message to the region and the world, demonstrating the country’s growing defense capabilities. With the expanded production capacity of the HİSAR systems, multiple deployments across Türkiye are expected in the near future.
The new facilities will not only increase output but also help Türkiye achieve full independence in critical defense technologies. As President Erdoğan emphasized, “mass production” is now a key priority—not just for air defense systems but also for electronic warfare, satellite-supported defense, unmanned systems, and ballistic missile technologies. With the “Steel Dome” project, Türkiye has successfully built a multi-layered air defense shield relying entirely on domestic capabilities.
In conclusion, Türkiye is transforming from a country that develops defense systems into one that can manufacture them quickly and efficiently. Led by ASELSAN and ROKETSAN, this new phase signifies a stronger, more independent Türkiye—both technologically and strategically.
