BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry continues to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) through advanced modernization programs. As part of the cooperation between the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and ASELSAN, 17 NEFER Turreted Armored Combat Vehicles (ACVs) have been delivered to the Land Forces Command. This delivery represents an important milestone in the Armored Combat Vehicle Modernization Project, which was launched in 2019.
The project, supported with a budget of approximately 900 million Turkish Lira, aims to modernize the existing armored vehicle fleet of the Turkish Land Forces. Within this scope, outdated weapon turrets have been replaced with ASELSAN’s advanced NEFER Weapon Systems. Equipped with a 25mm NEFER Turret, Laser Warning System, and Close-Range Surveillance System, the vehicles also feature enhanced armor and mine protection. These upgrades significantly increase the vehicles’ durability and effectiveness on the battlefield.
One of the most remarkable elements of the project is the NEFER Remote-Controlled Weapon Turret. Specifically designed to engage armored ground targets, the turret provides high accuracy even while on the move. It is also equipped with night/day vision capabilities, automatic target tracking, and ballistic calculation functions. These features not only improve combat performance but also enhance soldier safety during operations.
With the induction of the 17 newly delivered vehicles, the TAF has taken another significant step toward building a more modern and effective land force. This delivery underlines Türkiye’s determination to strengthen its defense industry with indigenous solutions while showcasing the country’s growing technological expertise and innovation capacity on a global scale. Once the modernization project is fully completed, the Turkish Land Forces will possess a far more capable and resilient combat vehicle fleet.
