Turkey’s leading defense technology company HAVELSAN showcased two major projects at the IDEX 2025 defense exhibition held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. As part of its collaboration with UAE-based Calidus, HAVELSAN unveiled the Ground-Based Training System developed for the B-250 light attack and trainer aircraft. Featuring full 360-degree motion capability and advanced augmented reality (AR) integration, the simulator offers an immersive and efficient training environment designed to enhance pilot readiness and safety. UAE pilots will now be able to train in complex mission scenarios—such as emergency procedures, low-altitude maneuvers, and joint operations—without real-world flight risks.
HAVELSAN General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar emphasized that this new system will modernize the UAE’s pilot training infrastructure. He noted that its modular design allows rapid adaptation to different mission packages, sensors, and weapon configurations. Nacar also revealed that HAVELSAN and the UAE are in talks for a new cooperation agreement expected to be finalized by the end of the year, further strengthening bilateral defense industry ties.
Another highlight from the exhibition was the AL WASHAQ 4×4 unmanned ground vehicle, which featured HAVELSAN’s Tactical Command and Control (C2) System integration. This advanced solution provides real-time situational awareness, autonomous coordination between units, and secure data sharing across command levels. It enhances battlefield decision-making and operational efficiency, particularly in reconnaissance, border security, and asymmetric warfare missions.
Nacar underlined Turkey’s transformation in defense technology exports, stating, “We produced for our own forces first, proved our capabilities in the field, and now we confidently deliver sustainable, high-tech defense solutions around the world.” HAVELSAN’s growing presence in the UAE demonstrates Turkey’s expanding influence in simulation, command-control, and defense software systems, marking another milestone in its global defense industry outreach.
