BREAKING NEWS
Ulusal Harp Teknolojileri Savunma Sistemleri Inc., based in Antalya and holding NATO Secret and National Secret Facility Security Certificates, has introduced its newest product: the mobile early warning air defense system named “KALKA.” Added to the company’s range of nine previously developed drone jamming systems, KALKA addresses the growing threat of malicious drone and UAV use, offering security forces a highly advanced protective capability.
According to R&D Coordinator Bekir Yalçın, drones are increasingly used not only by security units but also for illegal activities such as surveillance, drug trafficking, explosive delivery, and various forms of terrorism. Due to the dangers of using firearms in crowded public areas—such as rallies, concerts, and stadium events—the company set out to design a safe and effective countermeasure. The result is KALKA, a vehicle-mounted drone defense system capable of both jamming and frequency tracking.
KALKA is produced entirely with domestic hardware and software. Operating in manual or autonomous modes, the system records operational data and activates only when a UAV or drone is detected, preventing unwanted disruption of communication channels. Through continuous passive scanning, it monitors airspace and automatically engages threats when necessary. With a detection and jamming capability of up to 5,000 meters—even in challenging terrain—the system provides robust defense against single or swarm drone incursions.
The system received full approval during its first demonstration and testing, conducted under the supervision of the Antalya Provincial Police Department. KALKA is currently available only to domestic law enforcement agencies, but international sales may be authorized by the Ministry of National Defense. Yalçın stated that interest from Russia could lead to the system’s first export. With serial production infrastructure already prepared, the company takes pride in contributing to Turkey’s self-sufficiency in defense technology.
