BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence has released new footage from the Flintlock-2026 Multinational Special Operations Exercise held in Libya. According to news, the ministry said the exercise was conducted between April 13 and April 30, 2026, and emphasized that its purpose was to train forces operating against violent extremist organizations and improve their operational capability.
Flintlock-2026 is part of a much broader multinational special operations framework. U.S. Africa Command said the exercise began with opening events in Libya and Côte d’Ivoire and brought together forces from more than 30 nations to strengthen interoperability, counterterrorism readiness, and regional security cooperation.
The footage shared by the Turkish ministry focused on the urban operations phase, showing special forces elements conducting training in built-up environments. While the ministry did not publicly describe every tactical scenario in detail, the visuals indicate emphasis on close-quarters movement, coordinated entry procedures, and urban combat skills relevant to irregular warfare and counterterrorism missions. This last sentence is an inference based on the released footage and the stated purpose of the exercise.
The Libya leg of Flintlock-2026 is particularly notable. AFRICOM’s official material shows that part of the exercise was staged in Sirte, where partner nations joined the opening activities. That underlines Libya’s role in the 2026 edition and reflects the continuing importance of multinational training efforts tied to security stabilization in North Africa. This last sentence is an inference based on AFRICOM’s published event material.
Taken together, the footage released by Türkiye’s MoD highlights not only a training event, but also Türkiye’s active participation in multinational special operations cooperation. Experience gained in urban warfare phases like this can directly support readiness for counterterrorism and irregular conflict environments. This final point is an inference based on the exercise purpose and the reported training focus.
