BREAKING NEWS
Turkey’s defense industry has strengthened its foothold in the Gulf region with a high-level delegation visit to Muscat, Oman, under the leadership of Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün. The visit aimed to expand strategic defense cooperation between Turkey and Oman, culminating in several new agreements signed by ASELSAN and HAVELSAN.
According to the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), the delegation met with Oman’s Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, Mohammed Bin Nasir Al Zaabi, Oman Investment Authority Chairman Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Oman Muhammet Hekimoğlu. Discussions focused on joint projects in defense technology, investment, and industrial collaboration.
As part of the visit, ASELSAN officially opened its new office in Muscat, marking a significant milestone in Turkey’s growing presence in the Gulf. The inauguration ceremony was attended by ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol, HAVELSAN CEO Mehmet Akif Nacar, ROKETSAN CEO Murat İkinci, and representatives from TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries).
Haluk Görgün emphasized that this visit followed the recent official trip of Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to Turkey, hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, noting that bilateral relations are now expanding into the defense sector. “During our meetings, ASELSAN and HAVELSAN signed strategic agreements for the sale of advanced defense systems. These agreements mark a major step toward turning our partnership with Oman into concrete defense projects,” Görgün said.
He added, “We believe these collaborations will not only strengthen the strategic partnership between Turkey and Oman but also contribute positively to regional and global security dynamics.”
The Turkish defense industry’s growing influence in the Middle East and Gulf region continues through leading firms such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, TUSAŞ, and ROKETSAN. With Oman emerging as a key partner, Turkey aims to enhance both technology transfer and defense diplomacy, positioning itself as a leading defense partner in the region.
