BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industry achieved a strong export performance in May, recording a significant year-on-year increase. According to the announced figures, the sector exported $992 million in May, representing a 33.9 percent rise compared to the same period of the previous year. This performance once again demonstrated the growing strength of the Turkish defense and aerospace ecosystem in global markets.
President of the Presidency of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün stated that the sector continued its strong growth trend in May. He emphasized that the $992 million export figure reflects Türkiye’s production capacity, engineering competence, export capability and international competitiveness in defense and aerospace technologies. The result also highlights the increasing global demand for Turkish-made high value-added systems and platforms.
The sector’s export momentum was not limited to May alone. In the January-May period, defense and aerospace exports increased by 29.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $3.863 billion. This figure shows that Türkiye’s defense industry has maintained a steady upward trend throughout the first five months of the year.
Görgün noted that Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industry continues to strengthen its structure as a sector that develops, produces and exports advanced technologies in line with the strategic vision set out by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The deepening industrial ecosystem, expanding production infrastructure and sustainable export approach are among the key factors supporting the sector’s global competitiveness.
The increase in exports also carries strategic importance for Türkiye’s wider economic goals. Defense and aerospace products, which are based on advanced technology and engineering, contribute to increasing the country’s export value while making Turkish industrial capabilities more visible in international markets. The May export figure of $992 million indicates that Turkish defense products continue to attract strong demand across different regions.
Haluk Görgün thanked the companies, engineers, technicians, employees and all stakeholders who contributed to this success. With its growing ecosystem, increasing capacity and sustainable export-oriented structure, the Turkish defense and aerospace industry is expected to continue generating added value for Türkiye and strengthening its position in global markets.
