BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry continues to expand its influence beyond the region, playing an increasingly important role on a global scale. In Africa, Turkish defense solutions are making a significant impact, particularly through armored vehicles. Recently, Katmerciler secured a major contract with Kenya’s Ministry of Defense for the delivery of 118 Hızır 4x4 Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles, marking a milestone in Türkiye’s defense exports.
According to Furkan Katmerci, Vice Chairman of Katmerciler’s Executive Board, this deal was the result of nearly two years of planning and close cooperation between both sides. He emphasized that such large-scale projects require patience and long-term strategic collaboration. The Hızır 4x4 has been well received in Africa thanks to its robust design and adaptability, meeting the operational demands of local security forces while maintaining high performance under harsh conditions.
Kenya’s decision to acquire the Hızır 4x4 demonstrates the growing trust in Turkish defense products and highlights Türkiye’s emergence as a reliable and preferred supplier on the international stage. At the upcoming 15th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF), Katmerciler is expected to showcase newly developed vehicles, including the Kenya-specific version of the Hızır 4x4.
This development underscores Türkiye’s position as not only a regional defense power but also a strong global competitor. Katmerciler’s success in Africa reflects the innovative spirit of the Turkish defense industry and its increasing capacity for exports to international markets.
