BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye continues to make significant strides in ballistic missile technology with Roketsan leading the way. Speaking at the IDEX 2025 defense exhibition in Abu Dhabi, Roketsan General Manager Murat İkinci confirmed that the latest test launch of the Tayfun short-range ballistic missile was completed successfully, demonstrating “surgical precision” in striking its target. He emphasized that Türkiye is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s key players in ballistic missile systems.
İkinci underlined that Tayfun is not a single missile but a growing family of systems: “We are developing multiple blocks with varying ranges and warhead types. Together, they will form a comprehensive ballistic missile family.” These new variants are expected to include enhanced propulsion systems and longer engagement ranges, strengthening Türkiye’s strategic deterrence capabilities.
Referring to President Erdoğan’s earlier statement — “We will increase our stock of 800 km-range missiles and accelerate our 2,000 km-range missile development” — İkinci said that Roketsan is fully committed to achieving these national defense goals. While serial production of Tayfun continues, advanced variants aimed at extended-range missions are already in the research and development phase.
Another major focus for Roketsan is the SİPER Block-2 air defense missile, designed as part of Türkiye’s integrated Çelik Kubbe (Iron Dome) system. With a range of up to 150 kilometers, SİPER Block-2 is expected to become one of the most powerful defensive assets in the Turkish arsenal. İkinci also noted ongoing progress with the Levent naval defense system, which will play a critical role in protecting Türkiye’s maritime domain — the “Blue Homeland.”
With these developments, Roketsan reinforces its position as a cornerstone of Türkiye’s defense industry. The Tayfun and SİPER projects exemplify the country’s determination to achieve full technological sovereignty while boosting its global defense exports and operational capabilities.
