BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry is entering a new phase in missile technology. ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci, speaking at the IDEF 2025 defense exhibition, announced that the development phase of the TAYFUN BLOK-4 ballistic missile is almost complete and that test firings will begin very soon. He described BLOK-4 as one of the largest, fastest, and most powerful missiles in the TAYFUN family, emphasizing that “TAYFUN is a broad family, and it will continue to expand.”
The TAYFUN BLOK-4, developed entirely by Turkish engineers, stands out as a hypersonic, long-range ballistic missile capable of delivering pinpoint accuracy. Designed to significantly enhance the Turkish Armed Forces’ strategic strike power, the missile features advanced onboard sensors that allow it to precisely engage its target while evading enemy defenses. İkinci underlined that the TAYFUN family will continue to evolve, expanding with different warhead configurations and mission capabilities.
ROKETSAN also introduced GÖKBORA, Türkiye’s first solid-fuel ramjet air-to-air missile, at the same event. Developed in close cooperation with TÜBİTAK SAGE’s GÖKHAN project, GÖKBORA is designed for deployment from the internal weapon bays of KAAN and KIZILELMA platforms, enabling engagement of beyond-visual-range targets without compromising stealth features.
In addition to missile projects, İkinci highlighted the importance of the AKYA heavyweight torpedo and AKATA encapsulated ATMACA systems, which provide the Turkish Navy with powerful underwater strike capabilities. He also discussed the EREN missile, developed for Türkiye’s world-renowned UAVs, capable of engaging both aerial and ground targets — making it a multi-role precision weapon.
ROKETSAN continues to grow rapidly, expanding its exports and technological capabilities. According to İkinci, the company is growing by about 50% annually in dollar terms, ranking among the fastest-growing defense firms globally. With the upcoming TAYFUN BLOK-4 test phase, Türkiye is preparing to take its place among the world’s elite nations in hypersonic ballistic missile technology.
