BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s leading defense industry companies, ASELSAN, continues to expand its global footprint through international cooperation projects. Within this scope, ASELSAN successfully integrated its SEDA 100 Acoustic Shot Detection System onto the new-generation 8x8 Tigon armored vehicle developed by South Korean defense manufacturer Hanwha Aerospace. The integrated platform was unveiled for the first time at the World Defense Show held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Tigon armored vehicle, displayed in the static exhibition area, drew significant attention as a concrete example of international defense industry collaboration. ASELSAN and Hanwha Aerospace had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding last year covering the integration of the SEDA system into Hanwha vehicles, signaling their intent to jointly address both domestic and international markets.
The SEDA 100 Acoustic Shot Detection System is a combat-proven solution that employs advanced acoustic technologies to detect supersonic projectiles and accurately determine the shooter’s location. The system operates by sensing both the muzzle blast and the shock wave created when a projectile exceeds the speed of sound, using distributed microphone arrays mounted on the vehicle.
By analyzing millisecond-level differences in the arrival times of sound signals at the sensors, SEDA 100 instantly calculates and displays critical information such as firing coordinates, distance, direction, and elevation angle to the operator. Capable of operating effectively under all environmental and weather conditions, the system provides GIS-based alerts and requires no calibration, enabling seamless integration into various land platforms.
With this integration, ASELSAN once again demonstrated its capability to deliver advanced, interoperable electronic warfare and situational awareness solutions, reinforcing its position as a reliable technology partner for global armored vehicle programs.
