BREAKING NEWS
During the visit to ASELSAN Gölbaşı Facilities, Polish President Karol Nawrocki and his delegation were briefed on Turkey's indigenous and proprietary defense technology infrastructure. Defense Industry Agency Chairman Haluk Görgün and ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol provided comprehensive information to delegation members on electronic warfare, radar, air defense, communications, and electro-optical systems. Nawrocki emphasized that defense industry cooperation between the two nations is indispensable, noting that following the contract signed in 2025, a stronger alliance could be forged.
ASELSAN stands as Turkey's leading defense electronics organization, established in 1975 to meet Turkish Armed Forces requirements. The company has developed substantial engineering capacity in radar systems, communications solutions, electronic warfare platforms, and electro-optical technologies. The Gölbaşı Technology Hub serves as the design, development, and manufacturing center for these critical defense systems. The organization's NATO-standard production capabilities and international certifications enhance confidence among foreign partners.
Electronic warfare systems represent critical technologies in modern defense strategy, designed to neutralize enemy radar and communications systems. ASELSAN's solutions in this field rely on advanced software and hardware integration that enables signal detection, analysis, and countermeasure implementation. Radar systems provide early detection of air and ground targets, forming the foundation of defense operations. Communications and electro-optical technologies deliver secure data transmission and precision imaging capabilities, enhancing operational effectiveness. The combined application of these technologies creates an integrated defense ecosystem.
Turkey's defense industry localization rate has increased significantly in recent years, with organizations like ASELSAN ensuring domestic production of critical components. This development reduces external dependency while accelerating technology transfer and research and development investments. Domestic production of high-value-added products such as electronic warfare and radar systems strengthens the defense sector's strategic autonomy. Interest from NATO allies like Poland in these technologies demonstrates the growing international competitiveness of Turkish defense manufacturing.
The approximately 410 million dollar electronic warfare systems export contract signed in December 2025 exemplifies concrete Turkish-Polish defense cooperation. This agreement solidifies ASELSAN's position as a trusted technology provider in NATO geography. When compared with similar systems globally—such as U.S. electronic warfare platforms and Europe's CAESAR systems—Turkish solutions stand out for cost-effectiveness and NATO compatibility. Joint production and technology-sharing projects between the two nations strengthen European-Atlantic defense capacity while underscoring Turkey's strategic significance.
