Roketsan and Aselsan announced their support for strategic cooperation agreements signed at the NATO Defense Industry Forum held in Ankara on July 7, 2026. Roketsan CEO Murat İkinci stated on social media platform NSosyal that the company participated in the signing ceremony for agreements covering strike capabilities, integrated air and missile defense systems, and space and surveillance capabilities. İkinci emphasized that Roketsan is among the contractors for these projects and will continue contributing to strengthening Turkey and NATO's common defense capabilities through its advanced technologies and deterrent systems.

Aselsan CEO Ahmet Akyol welcomed the agreements announced at the forum. Akyol stated, "With our advanced technologies and our series production capacity, which increases daily, we continue to contribute to the security of our alliance as well as our country." The Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) head Haluk Görgün announced that agreements were signed on strategic capability areas to be jointly developed by NATO member states. Görgün noted that these agreements cover strike capabilities, integrated air and missile defense systems, space and surveillance capabilities, critical raw materials for the defense industry, and NATO's unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) superiority.

These projects, to be executed by Aselsan, Roketsan, STM and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), will form the backbone of NATO's deterrence architecture in the coming years. Görgün emphasized that these projects are designed to modernize the alliance's defense capabilities and strengthen them technologically. These agreements demonstrate the capacity of Turkish defense industry organizations to develop and produce high-technology products meeting NATO standards.

Turkish defense industry has made significant progress over the past two decades in strike systems, air defense platforms and surveillance technologies. Roketsan has developed expertise in guided missile systems including ATMACA, SOM, BORA and SİPER, while Aselsan has specialized in the HİSAR air defense system and radar technologies. STM plays a leading role in maritime and ship systems, while TÜBİTAK leads in satellite and space technologies. The collaboration of these organizations within NATO projects reinforces Turkey's position as a regional leader in defense technology.

NATO's strategic capability development projects promote technology transfer, joint research and development, and production cooperation among allies. Turkish firms participating in these projects gain competency in international standards and expand their export potential. Additionally, such cooperation agreements increase Turkey's localization rate in the defense sector and support national technology development efforts. Projects targeting space and surveillance capabilities are particularly strategically significant, as they will strengthen Turkey's satellite-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capacity and contribute to national space technology advancement.
