Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler delivered an impactful speech during the opening ceremony of the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) held at Atatürk Airport, highlighting the growing strength and global recognition of Türkiye’s defense sector. “It is an undeniable truth that our indigenous, national, original, and innovative defense systems add strength to the power of our glorious army, contribute greatly to our economy, and reinforce our country’s international standing,” said Güler.
The minister noted that defense and security have always been of paramount importance to nations, and in today’s complex and uncertain security environment, possessing a modern and powerful military supported by an advanced defense industry is essential for lasting peace and stability. He praised President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s leadership, under which Türkiye has achieved remarkable progress and developed unique defense capabilities that serve as a pillar of national resilience.
Güler stated that Türkiye’s defense industry now operates as an integrated ecosystem composed of public institutions, private firms, and research organizations, creating significant global influence. “Our advanced systems not only strengthen our army but also support our allies and friendly nations. Türkiye today is one of the key actors contributing to global security architecture,” he said.
Speaking about IDEF 2025, Güler underlined that the exhibition has become a vital platform for fostering international cooperation and promoting peace. “IDEF brings together nations and defense industry companies that aim to contribute to global peace and partnership. This year’s event is designed to encourage the sharing of capabilities, experiences, and technological advancements among participants,” he explained.
Concluding his remarks, Minister Güler expressed gratitude to President Erdoğan and everyone involved in organizing the fair. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s determination to continue strengthening its defense industry, which he described as a cornerstone of both national security and technological innovation.
