Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, speaking at the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), highlighted that the event has grown into one of the world’s leading defense exhibitions. Noting the participation of companies from Asia, Europe, and America, Bolat said, “This proves that IDEF has now become a world brand.”
Bolat underlined that the fair reflects Turkey’s technological progress, industrial capacity, and defense achievements on a global stage. “When a country succeeds in its defense industry, it earns credibility in all industrial fields,” he remarked. “Today, our technological and quality standards leave no doubt in the minds of our partners.”
Pointing to the economic impact of the defense sector, Bolat revealed that Turkey’s defense exports reached 7.15 billion dollars last year, and the target for 2025 is to exceed 8 billion dollars. He also stated that the industry employs more than 90,000 people and achieves an annual production volume of 20 billion dollars. Turkish defense products are now in use across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and even South America, he said, adding, “Our defense industry is not only an economic success but also the cornerstone of our national independence.”
Minister Bolat emphasized that IDEF has evolved into a strategic platform where Turkey presents its defense projects to the world. The current goal, he said, is to raise the export value per kilogram from 68 dollars to 100 dollars. With its growing technological capabilities, Turkey has become one of the most powerful defense nations in the Eurasian region. Bolat concluded by stating that IDEF now serves as a global showcase for Turkey’s defense industry achievements.
