Türkiye’s defense industry has reached another milestone in land-based strike capabilities. Roketsan’s Kara ATMACA UM cruise missile successfully completed a live-fire test, setting new records for both range and flight duration. The company announced the achievement through its official social media account, highlighting that the missile “achieved its longest-range and longest-duration flight” — marking a significant step forward in Türkiye’s indigenous strike missile development.
This test not only validated Kara ATMACA’s technical performance but also demonstrated its operational maturity. The missile’s record-breaking flight confirmed the high precision and endurance of its guidance, propulsion, and control systems under extended mission conditions. Roketsan General Manager Murat İkinci emphasized that Kara ATMACA once again proved its reliability and deterrent power on the battlefield, thanking all engineers and teams involved in the project.
President of the Defense Industry Agency, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, underlined that each successful test strengthens Türkiye’s independent defense ecosystem and advances the nation’s technological sovereignty. He praised the efforts of Roketsan and its subcontractors, noting that the Kara ATMACA program exemplifies the collaborative strength of the Turkish defense sector.
The Kara ATMACA missile family provides long-range, high-precision strike capability against ground targets. The UM variant, optimized for endurance and flexibility, can operate in challenging terrain and weather conditions while integrating seamlessly with command-and-control networks. This latest test not only expands the Turkish Armed Forces’ deep-strike capabilities but also underscores Türkiye’s growing technological confidence and engineering excellence in the field of advanced weapon systems.
