BREAKING NEWS
Turkey has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in its defense and UAV development efforts. The Aksungur Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), successfully launched Roketsan’s TEBER-82 precision-guided munition during its latest test. This achievement marks the first time in the history of the Republic of Türkiye that a UAV has deployed a munition traditionally used by manned fighter aircraft such as the F-16 and F-4.
The announcement was made by President of the Defence Industry Agency, İsmail Demir, through his social media account. In his statement, Demir confirmed the successful integration and firing test, saying: “The TEBER-guided munition has been successfully fired from the Aksungur UAV for the first time. Roketsan’s TEBER performed flawlessly during the test.” The successful launch showcases the maturity of Türkiye’s indigenous UAV–munition integration capabilities.
TEBER-82 is a guidance kit that transforms conventional general-purpose bombs into highly accurate smart munitions. Integrating this system onto the Aksungur UAV—an aircraft known for its long endurance and heavy payload capacity—provides Türkiye with significant operational advantages. Using armed UAVs for such missions enables strategic strikes while eliminating risk to pilots in contested environments.
Aksungur’s flight performance continues to strengthen its credibility as a next-generation UAV platform. Completing its 59th test flight, the aircraft has accumulated a total of 230 flight hours. In its most recent endurance flight, Aksungur remained airborne for an impressive 49 hours. With the successful firing of TEBER-82, the platform’s role in Türkiye’s expanding unmanned strike capabilities is expected to grow significantly, paving the way for further advanced weapon integrations.
