BREAKING NEWS
Turkey’s indigenous GÖKSUR Naval Air Defense System has successfully completed its first sea-based live firing test, proving its readiness to protect the country’s maritime assets within the “Blue Homeland” (Mavi Vatan) doctrine. Developed in cooperation between TÜBİTAK SAGE and ASELSAN, the system was tested aboard the TCG BEYKOZ, where it successfully intercepted and neutralized its target.
Designed as a key component of Turkey’s layered air defense network “Çelik Kubbe” (Steel Dome), GÖKSUR utilizes a BOZDOĞAN-based guided missile equipped with advanced dual data link (uplink/downlink) communication for real-time engagement updates. This allows the system to counter multiple aerial threats simultaneously with precision and speed.
GÖKSUR stands out with its 360-degree engagement capability, new-generation IIR (Imaging Infrared) seeker, AI-assisted fire control system, and multi-target tracking performance. Thanks to its modular architecture, the system can be easily integrated into various classes of naval platforms — from corvettes to frigates — and can operate both independently (GÖKSUR 100-N/StA) or as part of a ship’s combat management system (GÖKSUR 100-N).
With its successful test, GÖKSUR is now ready to join the Turkish Navy inventory, significantly boosting Turkey’s naval air defense capabilities. The system provides exceptional protection against low-flying cruise missiles and aerial threats, ensuring the security of critical maritime zones.
The GÖKSUR system also attracted strong international attention when showcased at Euronaval 2024 in Paris, where its export potential was highlighted thanks to its flexible, modular design. Defense analysts consider GÖKSUR not only a milestone for Turkey’s defense industry but also a highly competitive product for global markets.
By achieving this milestone, Turkey has solidified its position among the few nations capable of developing and producing indigenous sea-based air defense systems, reinforcing its commitment to technological sovereignty and maritime security.
