BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s breakthrough unmanned combat aircraft project, Bayraktar KIZILELMA, has gained a critical new capability with the integration of an advanced electronic warfare system. Developed by ASELSAN, the FEWS-U Electronic Warfare Suite has been successfully integrated into the Baykar-produced KIZILELMA platform and has completed its first flight test. This milestone significantly strengthens the aircraft’s survivability and operational effectiveness in modern air combat environments.
According to ASELSAN’s official statement, FEWS-U offers 360-degree coverage, enabling the platform to detect threats from all directions. With its high-accuracy threat direction finding capability, the system can precisely determine the source of hostile radar emissions. In addition, its rapid threat detection and identification features allow immediate activation of appropriate countermeasures, ensuring that KIZILELMA remains protected against radar-guided threats.
The FEWS-U Electronic Warfare Self-Protection System has been specifically designed to enhance the survivability of unmanned aerial platforms operating in highly contested airspaces. It detects, classifies, and responds to radar threats targeting the aircraft, automatically deploying electronic countermeasures when necessary. This capability is particularly crucial in environments saturated with advanced air defense systems, where reaction speed and accuracy determine mission success.
Thanks to its modular architecture, FEWS-U can be adapted to different unmanned platforms depending on operational requirements and system constraints. When combined with Bayraktar KIZILELMA’s high-speed performance, low radar cross-section, and autonomous mission capabilities, the addition of advanced electronic warfare functions creates a powerful force multiplier for Türkiye’s air power. This development once again highlights the country’s growing expertise in both unmanned combat aircraft and electronic warfare technologies.
