The EFES 2026 exercise in Seferihisar showcased Turkey's defense sector capabilities to representatives from 50 nations. Running since April and concluding on May 21, the exercise involves 10,388 personnel, with 1,305 from allied and partner countries participating in the multinational operations.
Baykar's Bayraktar TB3 unmanned combat aerial vehicle conducted direct operations from the TCG Anadolu light aircraft carrier, marking a significant milestone for Turkey's naval aviation program. The heavy-payload Bayraktar Akıncı provided intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support throughout the exercise. The integrated air and missile defense architecture developed by ASELSAN, known as the Steel Dome system, combines the Siper long-range platform with HİSAR-A, HİSAR-O and Sungur in a layered configuration capable of countering threats from air-to-air missiles to commercial-grade unmanned systems.
The KARGU loitering munition system developed by STM demonstrated coordinated operations of 20 unmanned units controlled by a single operator. The system is operationally deployed across 15 countries on four continents. The exercise also featured TAI's KAAN fifth-generation fighter jet, Hürjet advanced trainer and Anka-3 stealth unmanned combat aircraft. The locally-produced Karayel patrol boat made its debut in the exercise.
