Hosted by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), the Efes 2022 Exercise has gone down in history in terms of both scale and participation. With the involvement of more than 1,000 personnel from 37 countries, Efes 2022 became one of the most extensive exercises ever planned by TSK. The exercise began with a Computer-Assisted Command Post phase in May, moved into its live-fire stage at the end of the month, and is set to conclude with the Distinguished Observer Day in the second week of June.

Compared to previous years, participation increased significantly. While only 8 countries took part in 2016 and 20 in 2018, Efes 2022 marked a record with 37 nations. The exercise featured diverse military assets, including Italian frigates, Libyan naval assault boats, US CH-53 helicopters, howitzers, and armored vehicles.

The scenarios practiced during the exercise covered a wide range of military maneuvers such as amphibious operations, artillery fire, and air support missions, as well as special forces operations, combat search and rescue, air refueling, and urban warfare exercises. These operations highlighted not only conventional combat capabilities but also the readiness for complex and multidimensional conflict scenarios.

On the Distinguished Observer Day, defense ministers, chiefs of general staff, and force commanders from over 20 countries will attend in person. Their participation underscores that Efes 2022 is not merely a military drill but also a platform for international cooperation, strengthening strategic alliances, and contributing to regional security.
