BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry has achieved another significant milestone through the integration of advanced local technologies. Baykar’s Bayraktar AKINCI Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) conducted its first test flight with ASELSAN’s cutting-edge MURAD AESA radar. This achievement elevates Türkiye’s aerospace capabilities and further strengthens AKINCI’s position among the world’s leading unmanned combat platforms.
Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of Baykar’s Board, announced the successful flight via social media, sharing footage of the radar-integrated test. Following the announcement, industry leaders expressed their congratulations. ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol described the cooperation as “MURAD AESA Radar + Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV = A national duo changing the game in the skies,” highlighting the strategic power of combining two domestic technologies.
President of the Defense Industry Agency, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, emphasized the technological leap achieved, stating: “Our UAVs now have sharper eyes. The successful integration of MURAD AESA Radar with Bayraktar AKINCI marks a game-changing milestone in our defense capabilities.”
Developed by ASELSAN, the MURAD 100-A AESA radar features an active electronically scanned array architecture, enabling agile beam steering and simultaneous air-to-air and air-to-ground engagement capabilities. Designed for both fighter jets and UAVs, the radar enhances operational superiority in modern combat scenarios. Its multi-mission versatility ensures critical situational awareness across all weather conditions and electronic warfare environments.
With this integration, Türkiye joins the ranks of nations capable of developing and deploying indigenous AESA radar technology on both manned and unmanned aerial platforms. The successful flight of Bayraktar AKINCI equipped with the MURAD AESA radar marks a new era for Turkish aerospace — one where national innovation continues to redefine the future of air warfare.
