BREAKING NEWS
Turkish defense giant ASELSAN has achieved another major milestone in precision strike technology with the successful live-fire test of its GÖKTAN system. Conducted on February 18, the test demonstrated that ASELSAN’s TOLUN munition could accurately hit a designated target when launched from the new GÖKTAN platform, marking a breakthrough in Turkey’s ground-based precision strike capabilities.
Developed to transform the air-launched TOLUN munition into a ground-launched weapon, the GÖKTAN project integrates a rocket motor, command and control, and fire control systems to enable independent launch operations. During the test, after separation from the rocket motor, the TOLUN munition successfully deployed its wings, guided itself toward the target, and achieved a direct hit. This success signifies a major advancement in ASELSAN’s ability to deliver high-accuracy strike systems across multiple platforms.
Led by ASELSAN as the main contractor and developed in cooperation with DELTA-V, GÖKTAN was designed for the neutralization of critical targets independently of launch platforms. The system stands out with its 360-degree firing capability, off-axis engagement, multiple target attack, and sequential launch features. Its ability to operate both centrally and autonomously gives it a tactical edge in dynamic battlefield conditions.
Once integrated into the Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory, GÖKTAN will allow ground units to perform long-range precision strikes without depending on air assets, providing a major boost to operational flexibility and deterrence. The system exemplifies Turkey’s progress toward full indigenous defense solutions, reducing foreign dependence while elevating the national defense industry’s technological standards. ASELSAN continues to lead in developing advanced weapon systems that redefine modern warfare doctrines through innovation and engineering excellence.
