BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s leading defense electronics company ASELSAN has taken a major step forward in strengthening the country’s layered air defense architecture. The company announced the signing of a €1.65 billion procurement contract with the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) for the development and delivery of new-generation air defense systems. This landmark agreement stands among ASELSAN’s largest domestic defense contracts to date.
According to the disclosure made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), system deliveries under the contract will take place between 2027 and 2031. During this period, ASELSAN will focus on integrating advanced, network-centric and highly responsive defense technologies designed to bolster Türkiye’s multi-layered air defense structure, also known as ÇELİKKUBBE (Iron Dome). Industry observers view this project as a cornerstone of Türkiye’s efforts to achieve complete self-sufficiency in air and missile defense capabilities.
The contract is expected to cover various air defense components, including the SUNGUR, HİSAR, and SİPER systems — each designed to counter different altitude and range threats. Together, these platforms form a cohesive shield capable of detecting, tracking, and intercepting aerial targets with precision and reliability. Beyond its operational benefits, the project will also stimulate domestic production, research and development, and high-skilled employment across Türkiye’s defense ecosystem.
More than just a procurement deal, this agreement represents a strategic investment in Türkiye’s defense sovereignty and long-term deterrence capabilities. With ASELSAN’s proven expertise in radar, electronic warfare, and missile guidance technologies, the company is poised to strengthen its export potential and expand its presence in European and Asian defense markets through similar large-scale projects.
