Turkey’s leading defense electronics company ASELSAN has taken another strategic step in expanding its international footprint by opening a new office in Muscat, Oman. The move aims to enhance ASELSAN’s operational presence across the Middle East and Gulf region, supporting ongoing defense cooperation and export growth.
The official opening ceremony was attended by Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün, Turkey’s Ambassador to Oman Muhammet Hekimoğlu, ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol, TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu, HAVELSAN CEO Mehmet Akif Nacar, and ROKETSAN CEO Murat İkinci. The new Muscat office joins ASELSAN’s existing regional network of offices and subsidiaries in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, consolidating Turkey’s expanding defense industry outreach across the Gulf.
In his remarks, Haluk Görgün emphasized the strategic importance of the new office, calling it “an important step that reflects our determination to deepen ties with the Gulf region.” He added, “Turkey’s defense industry has achieved remarkable global success in recent years through technological innovation and export growth. I believe this new office will further strengthen the bonds between Turkey and Oman.”
ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol highlighted that the Muscat office will primarily focus on marketing, trade, and post-sales support services, ensuring close cooperation with local defense users. “This expansion demonstrates our commitment to delivering advanced defense solutions and developing sustainable partnerships across the region. We are proud to contribute to the security and technological advancement of Oman and neighboring countries,” Akyol stated.
The new office will also facilitate technology transfer, knowledge sharing, and capacity-building initiatives between Turkey and Oman. ASELSAN aims to use this base to promote its command-and-control systems, radar technologies, and communications solutions throughout the region, further boosting Turkey’s reputation as a reliable defense partner in the Gulf.
