BREAKING NEWS
ASELSAN, one of Türkiye’s leading defense technology companies, has once again taken center stage at IDEX/NAVDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi. During an exclusive interview with TRT Haber, ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol announced that the next-generation electro-optical targeting pod, ASELFLIR 600, is scheduled for its first flight in May. Following the international success of ASELFLIR 500 — already exported to 16 countries — the ASELFLIR 600 is set to deliver a “game-changing” leap in imaging and laser designation capabilities. With its laser designation range nearly doubled, the system will allow long-distance identification and targeting of strategic objectives, providing critical intelligence and operational superiority.
Akyol also highlighted ASELSAN’s broader vision under the “Iron Dome” (Çelik Kubbe) architecture — an integrated network combining radar, sensors, and air defense systems enhanced by artificial intelligence. Recent milestones include the delivery of Siper and Hisar missile systems and the successful sea trial of the GÖKSUR naval air defense system, marking a significant step in Türkiye’s defense integration strategy.
Addressing modern battlefield challenges, ASELSAN is also developing national countermeasures against FPV drones, which have become a serious threat in recent conflicts such as the Russia–Ukraine war. The Kangal system disrupts drone communication frequencies, while Bukalemun deceives them through advanced electronic countermeasures. ASELSAN is now working on a new integrated defense system for armored vehicles, combining radar, optics, and smart munitions to create a protective shield against FPV drone attacks.
With the ASELFLIR 600 poised for serial production, ASELSAN aims to enhance both Türkiye’s operational capabilities and its global export portfolio. The new system reaffirms ASELSAN’s commitment to achieving leadership in the global defense industry and represents a major milestone in Türkiye’s pursuit of technological independence in high-precision imaging and targeting systems.
